I would say if you want to make a plaster formicarium, then go to Walmart or somewhere and get Plaster of Paris.  I don't know about that stuff, but maybe someone else can tell you differently.  Good...

I made a formicarium out of firebrick. You need the soft firebrick called K-23 Firebrick. It's pretty cheap, and very light weight, in case you have it shipped. It also soaks up water really good too....

So all of my queens are doing fine. My carpenter queens tube had a spot of mold forming. I was looking at the mold with a light to make sure of what it was and it caused her to eat 2 of her 3 eggs....
