I made a formicarium out of firebrick. You need the soft firebrick called K-23 Firebrick. It's pretty cheap, and very light weight, in case you have it shipped. It also soaks up water really good too....

So all of my queens are doing fine. My carpenter queens tube had a spot of mold forming. I was looking at the mold with a light to make sure of what it was and it caused her to eat 2 of her 3 eggs....

I ended up going for a sort of catch as catch can mixture and doing it by estimated volume. It worked out okay, but you definitely want to let this mixture have time to set, maybe more than 8-10...
